In the mid-1980's, the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (aka: Sheng Kung Sisters), Taiwan Province, undertook the task set out by the Vatican through the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conference to find a way to inculturate in ministering to the poor and those of other faith traditions. Prompted by Fr. Aloysius Chang of the Society of Jesus, Asia Province, the Sheng Kung Sisters worked to create an Eastern Christian Spirituality that is still practiced today.
