How you can utilize maize corn stalk residues? With organic farming, nothing is wasted.
After harvesting maize corn or maize fingers, the remains or stalk residues can be used as;
1. Mulch in the garden to increase water retention capacity in the soil, to add fertility to the soil when it (mulch) rots, to regulate soil temperature, to reduce soil erosion (splash erosion) and to suppress weed development.
2. Stalk residues can be dried and stored to form hay for feeding farm animals especially during cold seasons like winter and rainy seasons.
