Opatija (Abbazia in Italian and Sankt Jakobi in German) is located on the Adriatic Sea a few miles from the city of Rijeka in Croatia. The beautiful town of Opatija has a long history of tourism. Already in the Austria-Hungarian era it was a very popular holiday destination for the bourgeoisie. Opatija has 13,000 citizens.
