Conflicts of Interest arise when an individual's personal interests (family, friendships, financial, or social factors) potentially compromise his or her judgment, decisions, or actions in the organisation. The consequences will adversely affect the individual’s duty of care owed to the organisation. As Conflicts of Interest can be a major source of concern for the governance of charities, it is critically important to understand and manage Conflicts of Interest well so that our charities can remain transparent and accountable to the public.
