When creating ‘Call Waiting’, Eder Santos was reminded of his childhood. When he was young, people told him that Brazil was the country of the future. But you are always waiting for it; the future never arrives. The birds on the telephone cables almost represent the young Santos - they’re waiting for a call like prisoners of communication. Every bird is waiting for something that might never happen. The lines are also reminiscent of ‘partitura musical’, sheet music, where the birds symbolize the music.
