Our visit to the Palace of Versailles ended up in a horrible experience. We waited one and a half hours to get in to the Palace even though we have purchased the tickets in advance. Once we got in the place was so crowded that we were not able to see almost any of the exhibits.

On top of that, we were also denied access to the gardens due to the fact that on that specific day a special event took place in the gardens and we needed a more expensive ticket. The official website of the Palace (and the flyer we got at the entrance) did not show any events on that specific date. When we took the flyer to the security guards they still refused to let us in simply saying that the flyer is wrong and “they know their job”.
