Here's my look into Absolutio from Navitus Parfums, the new release from Steven of the Redolessence channel. Absolutio is generally described as a gourmand fragrance. It opens up with a nice syrupy sweet cherry note that is supported by toffee. The opening is quite good. Soon after, the saffron and cinnamon take the main stage with the almond note. It does at this time remind me a bit of BR540, although after comparing them side by side, they don't smell the same to me. Also, I don't get the latex/dentist office vibe at all from Absolutio which I get from both BR540 and BR540 extrait. The heavy saffron gives it the BR540-esk qualities in my opinion. It does turn into a bit of a woody, almondy, saffron fragrance during the mid and I find it much less gourmand at this point. Deep in the drydown I get more of the caramel and it becomes sweeter again. However, I don't consider this a gourmand, although it is a nice and well put together fragrance. I am excited to try the rest of the brand.
I forgot to mention in the video, but anosmia does occur with this fragrance for sure. It comes and goes from when and how I can smell it, but it is quite long lasting, 12+ hours!
