The Mandalorian is a critically acclaimed American space Western television series created by Jon Favreau. It is part of the Star Wars franchise and premiered on Disney+ in November 2019. Set in the Star Wars universe, the series takes place five years after the events of Star Wars Episode VI, Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a lone bounty hunter known as the Mandalorian, portrayed by Pedro Pascal. The Mandalorian's real name is Din Djarin, and he operates in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. The show is praised for its storytelling, character development, and visual effects, and for reintroducing elements of the original Star Wars trilogy while exploring new territories within the universe. One of the breakout characters of the series is the Child, Grogu, colloquially known as "Baby Yoda," a mysterious infant of the same species as Jedi Master Yoda. The Mandalorian has been a massive success, spawning merchandise, spin-offs, and renewed interest in the Star Wars franchise.
