Countries at the Cop29 summit in Baku agreed on a $300 billion annual global finance target to help poorer nations manage climate change impacts, but recipients called it grossly inadequate.
The deal, finalised after extended negotiations, aimed to boost efforts to fight global warming during what is set to be the hottest year on record.
While some delegates applauded the agreement, others criticised wealthy nations for falling short and accused Azerbaijan’s hosts of rushing the decision through.
