Overview
Infiniti's mid-size three-row QX60 is all new for the 2022 model year and aims to move significantly up-market to win the hearts of premium-SUV buyers. Previewed by the QX60 Monograph concept, the 2022 QX60's fresh styling marks a subtle departure from Infiniti's current design language. We're also expecting a significant interior upgrade when the new model hits the market sometime in 2021, but so far we've been denied a sneak peek inside. Under the hood, buyers will find the same powertrain that's in the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder—the QX60's country cousin. That powertrain consists of a 295-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a nine-speed automatic. The mid-size SUV market is hot and the QX60 will face stiff competition from rival SUVs such as the BMW X5, the Lincoln Aviator.

Infiniti hasn't released pricing information yet, nor has it disclosed the 2022 QX60's available trim levels, standard features, or option packages. Judging by the smaller QX50 and larger QX80's trim levels, the mid-range Essential model will likely offer the best balance of features and value, but we'll update this story with more details once the production model is unveiled.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The current QX60 is powered by a 295-hp V-6 engine and that will stay the same for 2022, but Infiniti has dropped the old model's continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) in favor of a more traditional nine-speed automatic. All-wheel drive will be optional but the new QX60 will continue to ride on a front-wheel drive-based platform. We haven't had the chance to test drive the new QX60 yet but when we do we'll update this story with driving impressions and more details about the SUV's powertrain and chassis.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA hasn't posted any fuel economy estimates for the 2022 QX60 yet, but the current model does well in this metric. A front-wheel drive model we tested in 2019 delivered a decent 26 mpg over our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route. When we get the chance to test the new QX60 we will update this story with results.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Aside from a dramatic new exterior redesign, the 2022 QX60 is expected to retain its three-row interior layout, which means space for up to seven passengers. Infiniti hasn't yet given us a peek at the QX60's cabin design yet, but if the smaller QX50 SUV is anything to go by, we're expecting a huge improvement in both material quality and design over the 2020 model. Second row captain's chairs are a likely feature here, something that family buyers are fond of for the ease of access to the standard third row. We're expecting leather upholstery, suede accents, and wood trims. We should receive more information and images of the 2022 QX60's cabin closer to the SUV's on-sale date.

Infotainment and Connectivity
Current Infiniti models sport a dual-screen infotainment setup which we've found adequate but not particularly impressive. The 2022 QX60 is an opportunity for the brand to debut an all-new and more modern system with larger 10- or 12-inch displays, a digital gauge cluster, or augmented reality features that would rival those found in comparable Audi, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz models. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, onboard Wi-Fi, Amazon Alexa integration, and SiriusXM satellite radio are all expected to be offered on the new QX60, but we'll have to wait for the launch of the production model to be sure.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Since the 2022 QX60 is still merely a concept, crash test results from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have not been released. A host of driver-assistance features is expected to be offered as standard with more high-tech items to be offered as optional extras.
