Mountain Bike Drops Made Easy - Learn to use MTB foundational skill movements to become better at riding drops. How many times do you ride off a curb and wish you were more confident? How many times do you walk 2 foot high drops? This video will help you build confidence while applying the Neutral, Ready, and Neutral Back (manual lift) riding positions to make drops easier. Drops come in all different sizes so understand these movements will help you learn how to leave a drop and land a drop more easily but as drops become larger; maybe downhill drops, the movements could become smaller in some situations. Play around on smaller drops first to gain the knowledge of how the movements work and how to apply them.
- Enter the drop in Neutral riding position
- Move into ready before the lip (or take off) of the drop to create the energy needed to move back into the Neutral Back (manual position)
- At lip of drop (or edge) move into the Neutral Ready position (DO NOT BEND YOUR ARMS ON TAKE OFF WHEN LEARNING)
- On landing move back into Ready riding position to absorb the landing (and avoid the bounce)
- Push back into Neutral riding position to keep the flow along with mastering traction and balance
Movement is key to becoming a more in control, safer mountain biker. Practice makes perfect, so have fun and enjoy!
