As Naruto fans, we all know the story: after the ninja war kakashi became sixth hokage and Shikamaru took a job in the hokage office to work his way up the ranks. However, there’s more to the story than Naruto Shippuden showed you when it animated the epilogue story shikamaru hiden a cloud drifting in the silence. Shikamaru might have worked for Kakashi, but early on their relationship was a bit tense. Shikamaru didn’t think Kakashi was the right man for the hokage position. He’d go up on the hokage monument smoking as he looked at the hokage monument thinking that maybe Tsunade made a mistake picking kakashi. The reason being, Kakashi pushed off a lot of his work onto shikamaru from paperwork, to overseeing the shinobi union where the future boruto kages handled disputes before it came to the five kage, and Shikamaru was overseeing duties that typically the hokage handles. It led to Shikamaru thinking Kakashi was lazy and using him, until Shikamaru later realizes Kakashi was dealing with the growing threat in the land of silence, Sai’s disappearance, and rounding up rogue ninjas who fled after the ninja war.
