In July of 1947, a local farmer named Mac Brazel found the strange remains of an apparent spacecraft that had crash-landed into the area’s desert plains. Not knowing what to do, Brazel gathered took pieces of the debris to the town Sheriff, who, in turn, contacted officials at the nearby military base. The next day, the Public Information Officer for the 509th Bomb Group issued a press release stating that a “flying disc” had been recovered. But within hours, the military released another statement: a weather balloon, not a flying disc, had been recovered. End of story - or was it?
