Just so you guys know, they are currently housed in the quarantine tank for at least a month to check, diagnose, and purge them of any illnesses/sickness before putting them in the 250 gallon. So no worries, I am not planning to keep them in the small tank for a long time. So far, I think I've got the luck of the draw with these two. They are actually getting along and swimming along side with each other without any fighting, harassing, nor bullying, so I'm feeling pretty confident and good that these guys will bond together, and be best buddies in the future in the 250 gallon, and hopefully they get along with the 250 gallon stock.. The Oscar's colors a little washed out, right now, because of shipping, handling, stress, and acclimating in a new environment, so I hope you guys don't mind that.
Cheers.
Hope you guys liked this video.
Peace!
**UPDATE 8-22-2014**
Okay, looks like my Oscar has finally switched over to his aggressive side a little bit lol.. well only when it's feeding time it seems.. really greedy when it's eating with others hah chases the jack away for a little bit when it gets nearby, but the chasing is not crazy, damaging, and severe.
**UPDATE 8-24-2014**
Good news, looks like they have established some sort of a pecking order and now the Oscar is the alpha and have stopped chasing away the jack while the jack is eating nearby. Can't already say now things are going to go smoothly, but we shall see within a few weeks.
**UPDATE 8-28-2014**
Lol Here we gooo againnn.. The oscar has multiple personalities, I swear.. Still chasing the jack a little here and there. Might actually have to remove the oscar one day to a different tank, yeesh..*several hours later with crickets chirping* :P I decided to go ahead and separate the oscar to another quarantine. I don't want to risk losing my blue jack dempsey.. I heard these blue morphs jacks are quite sensitive too, so better safe than sorry. Gonna see how things pan out when they are healthy and eventually put in the 250 gallon with a heck of a lot more space.
**UPDATE 9-18-2014**
So far everything is going pretty well after separation. Oscar is doing well, Jack with the juvenile SD's are doing good. Quarantine is still ongoing until all medication treatments are completed to safely place them in the 250 gallon. The blue jack dempsey had a crudload of camallanus worms sticking out.. got them out safely without any problems decaying in the gut with dewormers. Thank the heavens above it worked with no problems. This jack will be around some quite some time. Will update in the future when he/she is way bigger. Cheers.
**UPDATE 10-22-2014**
They are both finally in the big 250 gallon after a long quarantining process and as healthy as they can be 100% purged of diseases.
They are doing pretty good in the tank, with plenty of space, but now my number one fear is that they will might fight once they get way bigger and when the space is smaller to them.. Sigh, I'll see what happens. For now, time to enjoy their presence and personalities!!
**UPDATE 3-21-2015**
They are getting along just fine in the 250 gallon. Oscar is now 5 and a half inches already; growing really fast, and Powder Blue Jack Dempsey is 4 and a half inches. So far, so good. I will see if I can give a video update in the future of the both of them soon.
