Every ethnic group in the world has its original and original abode. Similarly, Vede community of Bangladesh has an original and original identity. But there are many controversies about it. Many analysts think that Bede is more a part of the Arab Bedouin while some think that Bede is an original part of the Indian subcontinent. However, the Vede have their own religious belief, during the time of the Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, there was a nomadic settlement in Arabia, and a part of it became an enemy to other Bedouins because they accepted Islam. Later these Bedouins who accepted Islam left Arabia and migrated to the Indian subcontinent. The educated people of the Vede society think that they are the real the Arabian. However, according to the information of Banglapedia, Bede, Burma, that is, the current Myanmar government, is the successor of the tribal community.
According to history, Bede first came to Dhaka in 1638 AD with Arakan king Ballal Raja. Anthropologist Dutton mentions that Bedera first settled in Vikrampur present day Munshiganj district. After that, in the quest for livelihood, it spread to the neighboring state of West Bengal, Assam, along with various regions of Bangladesh.
Bede (River gypsies) are also known as Manta. Their main living source was the river, which has given them River Gypsy or Water Gypsy. They travel in groups and move from one place to another. They stay in one place for a few days to months. Once the majority of Bede lived on snake charming, monkey shows, magic shows, fishing, birds hunting and selling. Now the maximum number of people in Bangladesh has no interest in snake charming, monkey shows, magic shows. Fishes are not found in many rivers as the river is narrowed or destroyed. They are deprived of all basic requirements of life such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and medical facilities. 95 percent of Bede children are deprived from education. They live in Dera (small Cottage) where sanitation and drinking water is absent. Once Bede people talk with their own language named Ther. But, the new generation of Bede does not hear the Ther language. By the time, Bede people want to change the way of life.
