Inspections of assets or building structures often requires access to dangerous areas. Regular inspection walks in a plant are important but also time consuming. Also, the reviews and follow-up processes of these inspections are typically very manual. This increases costs and has a risk that issues might be missed in a ton of pictures.
Stefan Plogmann quickly goes through the end-to-end integration of ServiceNow, HHLA Sky Control Center and Solutions AI to automate visual inspections of plants / bigger factories.
The digital workflow includes inspection planning, drone fleet management, AI inspection and work scheduling for field services.
We used a very simple inspection case and a simulated drone when filming this video. The end-to-end system works but it was quicker to use a simulated drone without the real hardware on that day. Other inspection scenarios include for example to check for damages after a storm, see if there are heat pockets in pipelines (needs a thermal camera), check for corrosion, etc., etc.
The AI system usually still has to be trained to either adapt to the local situation or process a new inspection scenario. This is usually the most time-consuming part of implementing such a process.
