According to the Global Peace Index report, in 2022 peacefulness hit its lowest level in 15 years with rising conflicts and heightened tensions across the world. At the same time, there is an ever-urgent need for stronger collective action and multilateralism to respond to the numerous crises the world is currently under. From the stewardship of global commons to the organization of global sport events, all facets and actors of international relations face dilemmas in times of war. This session will explore how to sustain global cooperation when geopolitics gets in the way, but also how, sometimes, red lines have to be drawn.
