A Nelson Irrigation control valve can be used to slowly fill pipelines to protect irrigation systems from water hammer. The Rate of Flow control pilot automatically throttles the valve by sensing the velocity in the pipe and limiting the maximum allowable flow rate. This is especially useful for automating center pivot irrigation systems, and saves labor by eliminating the need to slowly open a valve manually.
