50th Anniversary Steam Gala
Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th September 2023
A weekend of steam with visiting, joining the home fleet, in a celebration of 50 Years since the NYMR publicly opened in the preservation era. The weekend saw an intensive timetable with goods trains between Grosmont and Goathland on Friday & Saturday, alongside Grosmont to Pickering and Whitby services. The event also featured the Annual Steam Gala Beer Festival at Goathland and Levisham Stations. At Pickering the "Friendly Miniature Railway" was running in the C&W yard.
Highlights included tram engine Lucie on the GW Saloon on shuttle rides at Goathland on Friday evening, with the Caley tank doing the same the following day, double headed 9Fs at Moorgates, 9F & 4MT double headed at Bridge 32 and the Caley Tank paired with 75069 and J27.
