Nigeria’s minister of finance says petrol subsidy payments will stop by June because the government can longer afford it. The government had announced its plans to end the payment at the beginning of 2022 but extended it for 18 months. Previous government have attempted to remove the subsidy but have been strongly opposed by Nigerians due to the result of the increase in petrol price and other busy commodities.
