Luxembourg plans to procure 16 Griffon multi-purpose armored vehicles (VBMR), 38 Jaguar armored reconnaissance and combat vehicles (EBRC), five Serval light multi-purpose armored vehicles (VBMR-L) and a comprehensive package of combat support logistics vehicles to equip a binational Belgian-Luxembourg combat reconnaissance battalion. In a press conference on May 8, Luxembourg Defense Minister Yuriko Backes presented the bill that would allocate 2.6 billion euros for the procurement of the vehicles in the period 2025 to 2033 and their operation until 2055. This is the largest investment ever to be made for the Luxembourg armed forces.
