Atiq Ahmed, accused of ordering the hit on Umesh Pal, a key witness in the Raju Pal case... was one of many accused in the case. Atiq and his brother Ashraf were killed in a shootout while they two were being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj on April 15. Their deaths came just two days after Atiq's son Asad was gunned down in an encounter by the UP STF with another accused Ghulam. With these deaths, four of the 10 accused named in the FIR have died in a span of just 72 hours.
