Today I'm talking about a book that focuses on teenager trying to break free of his dead, religious uncle's grasp. O'Connor writes about Francis Tarwater as he leaves his dead uncle to live with another uncle named Rayber. Rayber wants to deprogram Francis and push him into a secular life. However, he is torn between his uncle's wishes and his own doubts. I like how O'Connor talks about religion here as well as the internal struggle that is affected Francis. Check it out!
