The Gondang Winangun sugar factory was founded in 1860 by NV Klatensche Cultuur Maatschapij based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This factory is managed by NV Mirandolle Vaute & Co which is domiciled in Semarang. The name Gondang Winangun is taken from the name Kawedanan Gondang Winangun where the factory was founded. Now entering the village area of Plawikan, Jogonalan sub-district, Klaten Regency, Central Java, about 5 km west of Klaten City. This factory was founded at the end of the forced labor. Most of the sugar factories in the interior were built after the railway line existed in Java Island in the 19th century. This has to do with transportation or means of transportation
