Analog Devices’ HMC392A is a small, easy-to-use GaAs MMIC low noise amplifier with a frequency range of 3.5 to 7.0 GHz that is ideal for integrating into multichip modules for point-to-point radios, VSATs, military, and space equipment. The HMC392A operates from a single +5 V supply and provides 17.2 dB gain with a 1.7 dB noise figure. The RF input and output are matched to 50 Ω, so no external matching is required, and no inductor or capacitor are needed for the supply. Combined with a die size of just 1.3 mm2, the HMC392A has a minimal design footprint and can easily be integrated into the signal chain with other devices. Output power and bias point are set by connecting one of the power select bond pads to ground, with the 1 dB compression point ranging from 10.3 to 19.7 dBm.
