BIG DATA: WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR DATA? (2018)
Our dependence on digital devices is growing every day and the amount of data we are generating is exploding. Big data is the technology that corporations and government use to make sense of it all.
Which route should you drive to work? Are you healthy enough to run that marathon? Big data has the answers, and it’s the line between humans and machines that’s really fascinating.
Soti Coker is a data expert and futurist. He’s worked in the industry for nearly 20 years in various roles. His experiences working for leading brands and government agencies allowed him to witness the massive changes in the collection and use of data over the years. This insight led him to create DataChronicle, a data-driven marketing agency where he uses data to help people promote their businesses.
This video takes you on a journey that defines what big data is and shares stories that celebrate its many uses. That being said, the balance between convenience and data privacy is constantly shifting so where do we draw this line?
You decide.
For more information, visit www.datachronicle.co.uk, or find Soti Coker on LinkedIn. Soti loves data. He has seen that the collection and use of data in our modern society is growing exponentially. Many of us have so much data, yet little time to filter and understand it. Working with data and visualising it is Soti’s passion. He analyses it by peeling back the data layers, cleaning and reformatting it to improve its quality and usability and finally, uses it to tell stories to support and increase its impact. So much of modern life is driven by data. It’s collated by algorithms and machines, and yet it’s the line between machines and humans that really interests Soti. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
