Fukuoka is a foodie paradise, and you have to indulge in tempura at Tempura Hirao.
Tempura Hirao is a very popular tempura chain in Fukuoka!
Keep in mind the ticket machine is only in Japanese, and even after you get your ticket you’re going to be waiting a while.
Once you’re seated you get a private booth, and the chef will serve your tempura piece by piece. I got the Ebi Teishoku which comes with 4 pieces of ebi fry and 3 types of vegetable. I also ordered the mentaiko tempura, as fukuoka is famous for mentaiko. it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea so if you don’t like fish eggs, best not to order it but life should be about new experiences.
The tempura at tempura hirao is perfect for that casual, no frills tempura experience especially when you're in Fukuoka. Definitely go early and check it out!
