Cylinder heads are magic. Their job in the engine is simple enough - control the flow of air, fuel, and spent gasses in and out of the combustion chambers - but their construction and design characteristics are extremely important with respect to horsepower production, and a problem as basic as a poorly sealing valve can leave a good few ponies out of the stable. On today's episode, I show you some of the tricks I've learned over the years to break down heads at home and what you should be looking for as you recondition your heads, as well as a technique for blocking the exhaust crossover, and a very brief look at head porting - which I am pretty much no good at.
