STORYLINE:
A two-storey animal rights advertising poster was unveiled for the first time in downtown Moscow on Saturday.
Sponsored by the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the poster was hung on Tverskaya street, one of Moscow's main shopping thoroughfares.
The poster depicts a frightened animal with the slogan: "You want to be warm and comfortable, they simply want to live."
At the unveiling of the poster, a group of animal rights activists handed out flyers and wore fake fur coats stained in fake blood.
Activist Yelena Marovina said many Russians are unaware of the suffering animals go through in fur farms and hoped that the poster would raise their awareness.
Marovina added that it was possible to stay warm during the Russian winter by wearing coats made of synthetic materials and not fur.
