If You Say This 4 Words, God Will Keep You From All Evil | C.s. Lewis
C. S. Lewis once said God is not only the giver of life, but He is also our shield and protector against the forces of darkness.
These words are not just comforting; they are a powerful reminder of God's promise to safeguard us from harm and deception. Today, I'm going to share with you a simple truth: Today, I want to encourage you to embrace a powerful statement that will remind you of God's protection and presence in your life.
Let’s start with those four words. They’re a declaration of faith, a reminder of God's constant presence. These four words are: “Lord, You are my refuge.”
These four words speak volumes. They declare your trust in God, your acknowledgment of His power and sovereignty. When we say, "Lord, You are my refuge," we are affirming that we are not relying on our own strength to face life's battles, but on God's almighty power. We acknowledge that He is our protector, our safe haven, and the one who keeps us from harm.
The Bible assures us that when we seek God's protection, He responds. Psalm 91:2 says, "I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" These words align perfectly with the four words we just spoke. When we declare that God is our refuge, we are calling upon His power to guard us against the attacks of the enemy. It's an invitation for God's divine protection over our lives.
In the midst of life's challenges, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, to feel like evil is closing in from all sides. But God’s word reassures us that He will shield us. Isaiah 54:17 promises, "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you." This is the promise of God's protection. When we say, “Lord, You are my refuge,” we are proclaiming that God has already defeated the enemy. The victory is ours because of His love and power.
Satan wants us to doubt God's protection. He tries to plant fear in our hearts, whispering lies that God has abandoned us or that we are vulnerable to the attacks of evil. But we need to remind ourselves of the power of those four words: “Lord, You are my refuge.” When we speak these words, we shut the door to the enemy's lies. We remind ourselves that God is always with us, that He is greater than anything the enemy can throw our way.
Ephesians 6:16 tells us to take up the shield of faith, with which we can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Saying these four words is like holding up that shield, protecting ourselves from the attacks of fear, doubt, and evil.
God's protection is not just a promise for physical safety; it's a promise for emotional, spiritual, and mental protection as well. Life may throw us into difficult situations, but with God as our refuge, we are never alone. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” This verse perfectly encapsulates the peace that comes from knowing that God is our refuge.
So, when you face uncertainty, when evil seems to be creeping into your life, remember to say these four words: “Lord, You are my refuge.” Speak them over your life, and trust that God will keep you from all harm. He is your protector, your fortress, and your strength. The enemy cannot overcome you because God is with you.
