STORYLINE
Italians were rushing to get their lucky number as the country's state lottery offered a record jackpot on Tuesday, ahead of its evening draw.
The 153.7 (m) million Euro (211.8 (m) million US dollar) jackpot is Italy's highest ever.
No one has won the top prize since February when two winners shared a 139 (m) million euro (191.5 (m) million US dollar) jackpot.
The odds of picking the lucky six-number combination in the SuperEnalotto game are about 1 in 622 (m) million.
That's not cooling Italy's lotto fever however with many hopeful punters already planning on how they'll spend their winnings.
"First there are my sons, leisure and then after that, with that amount of money, you can give to charity, to children who don't eat or can't afford to study and help people who are less fortunate then us," said one lottery hopeful on Tuesday.
Of course there's no guarantee the jackpot will go off, however there is certain to be one consistent winner - the Italian government - as half of all the money played goes to the state.
