Introduction starts the video; the cabinet is shown and discussed around the 3:00 minute mark.
This was my first time building a greenhouse, and I must thank everyone who posted videos on YouTube, pictures on @ikeagreenhousecabinet, and posts in the Ikea Greenhouse Club group on Facebook. I can't thank each of you individually, but I read every announcement and most posts and learned so much! Special kudos to PlanteriorDecorator, wildfern, Your Babylon Plants, Lulu's Leaves, and KennyWilliams for their helpful YouTube tutorials.
I went with a black tall milsbo with black painted pegboard, wire shelves, and accessories. Before assembling, I drilled 2 - 2" hole in the rear corner after marking the bottom piece to make sure to avoid the base, and covered it with a desk grommet. I used clear window weatherstripping tape to seal the gap between the front of the doors. Around the remaining three sides of the doors, I used foam insulation tape.
I bought the ClosetMaid 8'x12' Wire Shelf and had it cut where I bought it into three 26" pieces. I used Satin Black paint to paint everything.
I installed the pegboard first. , which were two blue plastic Skadis 22"x22" pegboards (because I figured they would be less impervious to humidity and would take the paint better). I did have to drill a hole to install the pegboard as high as I wanted to, for that I used a drill bit the same size as my screws.
I then installed the wire shelves with 12 - 2" corner brackets that I happen to purchase painted in black (see link, or paint them yourself if desired). I attached the corner brackets using the existing holes for shelving in the unit. I then zip tied the shelves onto the corner brackets for stability. I installed the fans to the underside of the shelves using zip ties.
I chose a water fountain instead of a humidifier and it keeps the humidity in my greenhouse in the 70's and 80's in my dry desert climate.
The lights are Barrina 2ft grow lights and were installed with zip ties to the underside of the wire shelves. For the top light, I used super strong Neodymium magnets.
I bound the cords with zip ties and hid behind the pegboard. I installed all of the plugs in a smart outlet I had previously from another plant stand, but I'll link one below. I control it using the Smart Life app, which allows you to set timers and voice commands on your phone, as well as working with Google and Alexa.
Thanks so much for watching and reading, and I hope it was informative and helpful!
