Over the past few weeks billboards have appeared in London emblazoned with the image of a grey-haired man in a suit and tie and a bold claim: “Brian Rose — your next mayor of London.”

Rose, 49, is a former Wall Street and City banker with two million YouTube subscribers and a determination to persuade the capital’s voters that he is the independent candidate to replace Sadiq Khan in the election on May 6.
