Cloudy skies initially with outbreaks of rain in places, heaviest across parts of southern Scotland and northern England but more patchy elsewhere. Brighter skies developing for the afternoon with rain becoming replaced by scattered showers, some locally heavy with a chance of thunder. Some decent spells of sunshine are also expected during the afternoon across the south .
