Sierra Leone Football Star Mohamed Kallon Faces Court for Threats and Property Damage
Mohamed Kallon, a former Leone Stars footballer and the CEO of Kallon Football Club, is facing four criminal charges before Justices Memunatu B. Sesay and Francis Abu.
The charges include Threatening Language, Conspiracy to Commit Malicious Damage, Trespass, and Malicious Damage, all stemming from alleged incidents in April 2024 in Angola Town, off Peninsular Road, Western Area, Freetown.
According to the prosecution, Kallon allegedly threatened Foday Kamara, saying, “If you come outside your gate, I will beat you.” He is also accused of maliciously damaging an electric pole valued at Le3,000, belonging to Mr. Kamara, and unlawfully trespassing on a road leading to Kamara’s property. Additionally, Kallon is alleged to have destroyed four electric bulbs worth £40, owned by Foday Kamara and Yabome Mariama Kamara.
When the case was called on November 22, 2024, Kallon failed to appear in court, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
Defense lawyer S.R. Bangura requested that the matter be resolved through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), a request granted by Justice Memunatu B. Sesay. The case has been adjourned to December 10, 2024, for further developments.
