Laser Depigmentation, also called Laser Gum Bleaching, is the process of removing pigment from darker gums to become more pink in color.
While typically gum tissue (gingiva) is pink, excess deposits of melanin can create the appearance of brown or black spots or patches on the gums. These spots are called hyper-pigmentation and can range in size from smaller areas to larger areas that cover most of the gum surface.
Dr. Yetta McCullom describes how the PerioLase MVP-7 dental laser can remove excess melanocytes and help gums become more pink.
