Sen. Patty Murray is holding a news conference on expanding access to birth control in the U.S. following a move Wednesday by an FDA panel of advisers that could lead to the first over-the-counter contraceptive medication. The panel unanimously voted to back drugmaker Perrigo’s request to sell Opill on store shelves, which would allow users to take the once-a-day pill without a prescription.
‘This is a huge step forward in our fight to expand access to birth control—a fight that's even more important today in a world without Roe,’ Murray said in a tweet on May 10.
