Step by step guide on How to cook Chicken Afritada or Afritadang Manok
Ingredients:
Cooking oil
Red Onion - 1 pc medium size, sliced
Garlic cloves ( butil ) - 5 pcs, minced
Chicken - 500g to 1 kilo
Tomato sauce - 200g pack of Del monte Original style
Water - 2 and 1/2 cups
Chicken cube - 1 pc
Fish sauce / Patis - 1 tablespoon or adjust to taste
Ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon
White sugar - 1 teaspoon
Dried bay leaf / Dahon ng Laurel - 3 to 4 pcs
Carrots - 1 to 2 pcs, chopped
Potato - 2 pcs medium sized, chopped
Red bell pepper -1 pc medium size, chopped
Green bell pepper - 1 pc, medium size, chopped
Procedure:
Medium heat setting:
Heat cooking oil in a pot / pan
Once the oil is hot, saute Onion and Garlic
After sauteing Onion and Garlic, add Chicken
Saute Chicken until color becomes flesh
After sauteing the Chicken, add Tomato sauce
Add Water, Chicken cube, Fish sauce, Ground black pepper, White sugar, Dried bay leaves
Mix all the ingredients well
After mixing all the ingredients, cover the pot for 15 minutes
After 15 minutes, add Carrots, Potatoes, Red bell pepper, and Green bell pepper
Submerge all the ingredients on the sauce
Then cover the pot / pan for 10 minutes, and 15 minutes if you want the Carrots
and the Potatoes to be softer
After 10 to 15 minutes, your Chicken Afritada is ready!
