Last Mile Education Fund facilitates degree completion for low-income underrepresented students pursuing careers in tech. To date we have funded more than 5800 students of whom 33% have already graduated. Majority of recipients are women, 40% of recipients are Black women, 20% are Hispanic women. Over 40% of grant recipients report anxiety about hunger.
Proceeds of this event are used for the continued development of open-source tools used by data scientists. NumFOCUS, supporting and promoting world-class, innovative, open source scientific computing projects including: Pandas, Numpy, Sympy, IPython, Jupyter, Matplotlib, R and many more including Julia.
