The Emperor's Fanfare, Father Antonio Soler
The title and arrangement are E. Power Biggs's and the piece was originally written for harpsichord. Two sets of reed voices from the organ at St. John The Divine in New York City are highlighted here, a solo tuba stop and a group of harmonic trumpets -all recorded in the incomparable resonance and reverberation (full 8-10 sec.)of the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. The organ was built by the Aeolian-Skinner company under the direction of G. Donald Harrison, this magnificent instrument comprises 143 ranks and 8,035 pipes at the time of this all digital recording-1983- by Michael Murray.
