Rakesh Sharma, ED Bajaj Auto shares his views on the demand and the market. He adds that from the second half of June, an upsurge in demand has been witnessed. There is definitely pent up demand because for almost two months, there was no sale and the business had to carry on.
Since the end of July and beginning of August, the company has been noticing demand picking up in urban centres because two-wheeler is perceived as a safer option. "Working during COVID Times, you just can't just have a Plan A or Plan B. You need to react swiftly every situation to continue production," says Rakesh Sharma, ED, Bajaj Auto in an Exclusive Interaction with ET Now at Bajaj's Akurdi Plant.
Rakesh Sharma also said that even though the demand recovery is a positive sign, the fundamental problems in the system remains and shouldn't be ignored otherwise the factors contributing to the recovery currently can dissipate soon. He also spoke of the negative impact of decoupling from China ferociously and said it needs to be a continuous process developing capabilities back home.
