Excellence in the Armed Forces and the work of the people who support them have been recognised at the fifth annual Sun Military Awards (The Millies).
Organised in close collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall attended the event - dubbed "A Night of Heroes" -- at the Imperial War Museum in London.
They were joined by the Prime Minister, defence ministers and military chiefs, as well as senior government and political figures and stars from the worlds of entertainment and sport.
Forces News cameras were granted behind-the-scenes access.
There were nine categories for the professionalism and bravery of servicemen and women, while the members of the public who work tirelessly to support them were recognised too.
The judging panel made two further awards for special recognition:
The Complex Trauma Team at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court was awarded for its outstanding contribution to the recovery of injured service personnel
And special tribute was paid to all three services for their crucial and widely praised role during the London 2012 Olympic Games, under Operation Olympics.
Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope, First Sea Lord said: "Over the last five years, the Sun Military Awards has shone the spotlight on the courage, tenacity and professionalism of our Armed Forces. This year has been no exception, showcasing these outstanding men and women, serving the nation's interests both across the world on operations, and in the UK.."
The ceremony and the stories behind the awards will be screened on Friday 14th December on BFBS1 at 10:35pm CET or on ITV1 at 9pm.
