What exactly is Artificial Intelligence (AI), what are the possibilities of AI in medical imaging and what does it deliver? During a one-of-a-kind online DAME symposium, that took place on the 29th of June (2021), scientists and experts from various medical centers within and outside the Netherlands addressed these questions by bringing science and practice together.
In this video, Annetje Guédon (Spaarne Gasthuis) gives a presentation about deep learning for surgical phase recognition using endoscopic videos.

The aim of DAME (Deep Learning Algorithms for Medical Image Evaluation) is to explore software solutions using deep learning technology to achieve automatic, fast and reliable detection of abnormalities (such as cancer) in medical images. Partners in this project have been working on this topic the past years and have achieved substantial results. At the DAME symposium some of these results were presented.
