As mentioned in the video, this is my brothers 1st car, it's been drive way "art" for several years. He and his wife pretty much wanted it gone, until I came along and put in the idea, "hey, how about we try to start it?". Well after talking we determined that we would not put really much money into it, and lo and behold, we found a CHEAP fuel pump, and we said, what the heck. That and I had a few eBay bucks to use up before they expired.
Once we took off the tank and pulled out the fuel pump, we saw these gray flakes of something in the tank. After we took them out, and they dried in the Southern California Sun, November and it's 70 degrees BTW, we determined that it was the paint, or the coating that was inside of the tank. Apparently it had begun to chip off, from the inside. ( Do you think we might qualify for a Chevy recall???)
Anyhow, we cleaned it out, several times, and then decided to install it and see what happens.
Well, the car started. My brother was stoked!, and I too was excited to see that the car had fuel and oil running in its veins again, well, hoses actually.
Good experience, on a scale of 1-10 of difficulty, I'd say it was about a 6, not TOO complex at all, basic tools needed and just a few hours as well.
Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video, my bro and I enjoyed working on the car, not too sure if I'll do any more on the interior or on the paint, maybe if you comment and like, we can do something else to the car.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and God bless...
