STORYLINE
Australian Schapelle Corby, serving 20 years for smuggling drugs to Bali island, had her sentence reduced by 2 months on Thursday to mark Indonesia's independence day, a justice ministry official said.
It is an Indonesian tradition to cut jail terms on holidays.
Corby, 27, pleaded innocent to smuggling four kilogrammes (nine pounds) of cannabis to the Indonesian resort island of Bali in October last year.
Her 20-year prison sentence drew public outrage at home and is perceived by many Australians as an unfair conviction and unduly harsh sentence.
