Fish Patties are so popular in Sri Lanka as a short eat. It’s a pastry filled with spicy Tuna, potato and seasoned with spices, then deep-fried in hot oil.
A step-by-step guide on how to make easy savory fish patties at home. It’s very delicious! Filling can be Chicken, Lamb, Beef, Fish or vegetables.
You can have them for breakfast, for tea time, or for Iftar in Ramadan. It’s a favorite snack in every household in Sri Lanka!
INGREDIENTS:
For making Tuna Filling:
- Tuna tins - 4 (400g)
- Oil - 3 tbsp
- Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
- Curry Leaves
- Medium Onions - 2
- Salt to Taste
- Green Chillies - 4
- Ginger + Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
- Crushed Chilli - 1 tsp
- Cumin + Pepper Powder - 3 tsp
- Leeks - 100g
- Potatoes - 250g
- Lime Juice - 2 tsp
For making Patties dough:
- All Purpose Flour - 3 cups
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 pinch
- Butter - 3 tbsp
- Cold Water - 250ml
- Oil - ½ Litre (for frying)
