For me clearly the personal highlight was at the start the opening event with our Federal Minister, Alexander Dobrindt and the panel discussion, and in particular the CEO of Flexport, who said more or less, well, we began as a software company and now we have to integrate with the hardware, and the other companies are asset companies, they have hardware and have to see to it that they follow up the software. I found this a very exciting discussion.
Transport logistic is THE world's leading trade fair, which means it is the most important event for the industry every two years. We offer our customers the most important business platform and we must live up to expectations again and again, and constantly renew ourselves. We have to present the segments and trends of this industry here at the trade show.
There were three major trends this year at transport logistic: clearly the subject of digitisation, everything connected with "big data", "artificial Intelligence", "autonomous driving" was very present at the trade fair, increasing urbanisation, the impact on the issue of inner city logistics, "last mile delivery" was a big topic. And, of course the geopolitical issues: in the globalized world the increasing tendency of nationalisation and protectionism: what impact does this have on the logistics industry?
Yes, this year's transport logistic 2017 was a complete success. We had 2,162 exhibitors from 62 countries. A foreign share of 52% in total. It is the most international event in the industry and we will without fail easily beat the attendance figures from last year with 56,000 visitors.
