It turns out grip strength is much more common in people with higher lean muscle mass, greater bone density, and better metabolic markers among others since grip often develops through exercise or active lifestyles.
Like all proxy tests, it’s fallible, and many people in great shape cannot open a jar no matter how hard they try. But like many proxy tests, they are essentially free and simple to try, so why not?
