Gran Canaria Uncovered stopped at the Mirador (viewing point) Degollada De Las Yeguas. Degollada literally means to slit the throat or behead, but it is also the name for a particular type of deep ravine or cut in the earth. This is a popular natural astronomical observatory as the lack of light pollution and cloudy weather allows spectacularly clear viewing of the night sky with the naked eye
