"Grip is the pet raven of Charles Dickens. When Dickens was writing the novel Barnaby Rudge he wanted to use a raven as a character so he bought this raven, kept him as a pet and observed the behaviour -ravens are very intelligent. This raven learned to talk, he learned to say a few things, he had these phrases that he would repeat over and over again. Dickens did write him as a character in Barnaby Rudge and when it was published, Barnaby Rudge was reviewed by Edgar Allen Poe in America. And Edgar Allen Poe talked about the raven and sort of wished that Dickens had done more with him."
